Alan Michael’s text-based oils and acrylics on canvas are raw but sophisticated, confidently referencing culture, past and present, fashion and art. The Glasgow-based artist’s duplications of subject within a single frame create a sense of splicing time, an idiosyncratic filmic quality. His sophisticated palette of colour produces paintings with texture, wit and substantial form. He has exhibited this year in Brussels, Los Angeles and London.
