We’ve come up with a solution to stave off the recently reported demise of the public library…

well, it wasn’t really us. It was those alternative thinkers up at Glasgow’s uber-trendy arts venue, the CCA.

We got an invite to last night’s launch of the Like It Matters, and exhibitions of work by young Glaswegian sculptors, at the CCA on Sauchiehall Street, running till October 29.

Alas, Taggart was on, so no one here could make it.

But we couldn’t help noticing the former Specials punkster Jerry Dammers has struck on an idea that could halt the slide.

His set list at last night’s launch part was titled ‘library music’.

Far from being a contradiction in terms which will have those old ladies in brown cardigans and School sandals running out of shush, this is apparently ‘ideal background music for the modern civilian in an arts and leisure environment.’

So we’ve sent Ticketmaster and email asking them to tip us off about pre-sales for Fatboy Slim at Saltcoats Library. Stay Tuned.
