‘Nothing is Enough’ is Gary Rough’s debut solo Paris show. At first glance it would appear to be an exhibition of traditional form and romantic notions. However, on closer inspection it turns out to be an exploration of the quotidian, in decidedly non-traditional terms.
Or is it vice versa?
The rigour of representational drawing has given way to a more emotional response to a blank page. From the hopeless task of replicating a piece of lined A4 to lurid and hopelessly romantic hearts drawn in nail varnish, and the earnest phrases in between. Each work gives a sense of the individul faced with the enormity of life both internal and external.
